Cross Country Competes Well at State!
York Cross Country 4A State Championship – November 22nd, 2024The athletes performed well at the final meet of the season. The girls' team finished 14th overall in the state. Ava Shook took 4th place with a time of 19:26.52 earning all-state honors. Team Members: Ava Shook, Kimberly Galvan Fabian, Amerie Van Nostrand (7th Grade), Alexandria Welsh, Amiracle Adams, and Joyelle Graves. Alternates: Shayna Huard and MacKayla Thomasson. Sophomore Ellis Spencer had a great showing by finishing 27th out of 112 athletes with a time of 17:33.77. Please congratulate all the athletes on an awesome performance.

From Coach McFadden:York Cross Country 4A State Qualifier Results – November 16th, 2024The athletes had another great day at the 4A State Qualifier at Fort Jackson. We had another day of PRs and top 10 finishes. We had a total of 11 PRs. I am extremely proud of the resilience of our young group of athletes. We had 8 athletes to advance to the SC 4A State Championship. One individual male and the girls team moved on.Boys' Results: Ellis Spencer led the way by finishing with an 8th place finish. Ellis finished with a personal record of 16:17.55. Golf Team Excels at Upper State Tournament
The Cougar Girls Golf Team went to Willow Creek Golf Club in Greer SC Monday to participate in the Upper State golf tournament. Callie Lawton, a sophomore, tied for first place shooting a 78 and was deemed Upper State Champion! She will go on to compete in Hilton Head Oct 28th and 29th at the State Golf Tournament.Rasmine Dismukes also played well enough to get an invite to the State tournament. EmmaLee Thompson and Ellie Dismukes rounded out our team participating at Upper State and represented our school and community well.We are very proud of these girls!!

Our boys swim team had a great showing on Thursday night in Columbia.Great individual efforts from Wyatt Branch in the 500 free and 200 free got him 11th and 19th places respectively. Connor Evans picked up 18th place in the 200 yard free and had a very respectable 23rd finish in the 100 breast. Justin Haney picked up 13th in the 200 and 100 free.The 200 yard free relay team of Justin Haney, Will Gilfillan, Wyatt Branch, and Connor Evans took home 12th place. And our 400 yard free relay team of Justin Haney, Chandler Evans, Wyatt Branch, and Connor Evans placed 12th as well.We are very proud of our swimmers! They had a very successful season and with all of them returning next season, look to improve on a very good year!

CoEd Varsity TrackOpen season Track and Field practice will begin on January 9th-24th. Practice will be held at the YCHS track from 4:00pm-5:30pm. This is for all events: Throwing, Running, and Jumps. You must have an updated physical to participate. Physicals will need to be uploaded to Planet High School. Mandatory practice will begin on January 29th for athletes not participating in a Winter sport. Please contact Coach McFadden at amcfadden@york.k12.sc.us with your questions. CoEd Varsity Cross CountryWhat an awesome day at the Trojan Invitational on Saturday, September 9th. Please congratulate the following XC athletes. Every athlete met their time goal for the meet or ran a PR. I’m extremely proud of the team for their continued growth and commitment. We will continue to get better. The Varsity girls finished 5th out of 14 teams. Varsity Runners: Ava Shook, Colette Dismukes, Jayden Bennett, Ellie Dismukes, and Joyelle Graves. Ava Shook finished 8th overall.
